Today the Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park celebrates its 6 year anniversary. The day was commemorated with the unveiling of both the Cyril B. Romney Statue and BVI sign. Mr. Romney served as Chief Minister of the BVI from 1983-1986 and as a member of the Legislative Council from 1979 to 1995. He was also the first Virgin Islander to hold the post of Financial Secretary. He passed away on July 19, 2007 leaving a legacy of various accomplishments in politics, tourism, financial and business services.
The Tortola Pier Park Ltd. was renamed Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park at an official ceremony held at the facility on Friday, February 15, 2019.
The BVI Sign was also unveiled at the Cyril B. Romney Pier Park. This BVI sign encapsulates
everything about our Islands. As Premier Fahie stated during the Fifth Sitting of the Second Session of the Fourth House of Assembly ‘Our Government is constantly enhancing the tourism product with improvements at the ports of entry. Premier Fahie also made it clear that these developments fuel his enthusiastic optimism for the sustainable future of the tourism industry not only in the long term but right now. ’
This Sign was commissioned by Tortola Pier Park Limited’s Board, constructed by Greencrete BVI, and is located in the vicinity of the Luxury Deck within the Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park.

The Tortola Pier Park is a major development in the British Virgin Islands, which consists of an
enhanced cruise pier and a five-acre landside shopping facility. The newly enhanced cruise facility includes a 60ft wide, 1,312ft long pier that can berth ships up to a maximum tonnage of 180,000 GRT. The landside shopping center consists of over 60 stores, including retail, service providers, commercial spaces and office space.
